The Secret No One Was Supposed to Hear
The tension snapped.
Voices rose.
“Who decided?!”
“What are you talking about?!”
“This is insane!”
But the man didn’t flinch.
Didn’t rush.
Didn’t panic.
He simply reached into his coat.
And pulled out a folder.
Thick.
Sealed.
“Because of what you found,” he said calmly, “you deserve the full version.”
He placed it on the counter.
No one moved.
No one touched it.
Except—
Camila.
She stepped forward.
Placed her hand on it.
Then looked at her mother.
“You need to open it.”
Her mother hesitated.
Fear written all over her face.
“I don’t want to know…”
Camila’s voice softened.
“But you already do.”
That was enough.
Slowly…
Shaking…
Her mother opened the folder.
Inside—
Photos.
Reports.
Signatures.
Names.
One name circled in red.
Her eyes widened.
“No…” she whispered.
Grandma leaned in.
Saw it.
And her expression changed instantly.
From confusion…
To something else.
Rage.
“Say it,” the man said quietly.
The mother’s lips trembled.
Then—
“That name…”
Her voice broke.
“That’s his business partner.”
Silence.
Heavy.
Suffocating.
The man nodded once.
“He stood to gain everything,” he said.
“The contracts. The shares. The control.”
“And that night…” he continued, “he made a call.”
The mother’s body shook.
“A call to do what…?”
The man didn’t hesitate.
“To delay treatment.”
A gasp tore through the room.
“That’s murder—”
“It’s worse,” the man corrected calmly.
“Because it was done cleanly. Quietly. Within the system.”
Camila closed her eyes briefly.
As if confirming something.
“He said he tried to fight it,” she whispered.
The man looked at her again.
More carefully this time.
“…yes,” he said.
“He did.”
And suddenly—
The room wasn’t just filled with grief anymore.
It was filled with something else.
Something sharper.
Something dangerous.
Because now—
They didn’t just lose Julián.
They knew who took him.
