[Part 03] SHE SIGNED THE DIVORCE PAPERS WITHOUT A WORD…

The Man He Shouldn’t Have Crossed

Diego’s confidence didn’t disappear immediately.

Men like him don’t break that easily.

Instead—

He laughed.

Short.

Forced.

Disbelieving.

“Okay,” he said, raising his hands slightly. “This is funny. Really funny. You expect me to believe that she—”

He pointed at Isabella.

“—is your daughter?”

Alejandro didn’t move.

Didn’t blink.

Didn’t react.

And somehow…

That silence was worse than anger.

“Isabella,” Diego continued, shaking his head, “if this is some kind of act, it’s pathetic. You think you can scare me by pretending—”

“I don’t pretend,” Alejandro interrupted calmly.

That was enough.

Just five words.

But they landed with weight.

Authority.

Finality.

The lawyer, Robles, shifted nervously in his seat.

“Mr. Ramirez… perhaps we should—”

“Stay out of this,” Diego snapped.

But his voice wasn’t as steady anymore.

“Even if this is true,” Diego said quickly, “it doesn’t change anything. The divorce is signed. The prenup is clear. She gets nothing.”

Alejandro nodded slightly.

“You’re right.”

Relief flashed across Diego’s face.

Too soon.

“The prenup stands,” Alejandro continued. “She gets nothing from you.”

Isabella remained silent.

Watching.

Waiting.

“But you misunderstand something,” Alejandro added.

Diego frowned.

“What?”

Alejandro took one step closer.

“You seem to think this situation is about what she loses.”

A pause.

Then—

“It’s about what you lose.”

The temperature in the room dropped.

Diego scoffed.

“I’m not losing anything.”

Alejandro’s lips curved slightly.

Not a smile.

Something colder.

“Your company,” he said.

Silence.

“What about it?” Diego asked.

Alejandro looked at him directly.

“NovaLink goes public next month, correct?”

Diego hesitated.

“…Yes.”

“And your valuation depends heavily on investor confidence?”

“Yes,” Diego said slowly.

Alejandro nodded again.

“Good.”

Then—

He reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone.

Pressed one button.

And said:

“Proceed.”

That was it.

One word.

Diego frowned.

“What did you just do?”

Alejandro met his gaze.

“I withdrew my firm’s investment.”

The world tilted.

“What?” Diego snapped.

“And,” Alejandro continued calmly, “I’ve made a few calls.”

Diego’s chest tightened.

“Within the next hour,” Alejandro said, “every major investor currently backing NovaLink will receive information they weren’t aware of.”

Diego felt something crack inside him.

“What information?” he demanded.

Alejandro’s eyes darkened.

“The kind that makes people pull out… immediately.”
